Fossil Content
The fossil content of the Tyndall Stone is remarkable because of its abundance, because of the numerous large fossils present and because many fossils such as Catenipora, Cystostroma and Fisherites show easily recognisable sections on the cut surfaces of the stone. Most fossils have been worn or broken before final burial however and this, along with the constraint of only a two-dimensional section to study, makes accurate identification of many specimens difficult and sometimes impossible. The fossil groups identified in this project are listed below.
